You keep Pettersson out of your blogs. Unless it’s for 4 first rounders.

That is a special kid. If someone was willing to go for it I’d understand it. Pipedreams, only pipedreams

I can't see Det making a huge splash this year. They are in such great shape cap wise, and I just can't see them going for a big name with a long contract. It seems like they'll let some of the youngsters develop, then figure out where the gaps are and what would fit best. They'll need to add some vets to fill roster spots, but it'd probably be guys who can help the younger players develop, and keep them above the cap minimum.

At the same time, we are in a post-Covid NHL and some big names would help fill seats.

I think you’re right. It would be exciting, but feels like it’s going to be slow and steady

I'm sure you guys have the ammo to get Eichel, but wouldn't he be going from one non-competitive team to another non-competitive team? Isn't it still a number of years before your fan base expects Yzerman will have a contender?

That’s more than fair assessment wise. I guess I should rephrase. With the number of 1st round picks they want and where this team will finish, it may not be the best fit. Eichel needs a more positive atmosphere (like when ROR went to STL). He’s tired of losing and this isn’t the best spot if he’s sick of rebuilds.

You guys should be thankful you have good ownership and front office compared to Buffalo. I don't think Detroit is necessarily a bad fit. I am just skeptical it would be in your team's best interest. Moreover, I just can't see any place where Eichel can go to that meets the requirement of having the futures to send to Buffalo and would be competitive.

I personally would be more interested in Reinhart. Has there been word on what Buffalo is looking for in return or is all the talk going for Eichel?

This time last year (it really was around Thanksgiving time) we were talking about the arivial of Tyler Johnson and the sweetener that was going to accompany him. It really could happen this time! TJ (retain $1M) and Palat (retain$1M) for a6th. Yzerman signs Coleman for $4M x 5 and he has the 2nd line!

Stevie already traded him once.
Bishop asked to be unprotected as Dallas was about to buy him out!

Bringing the old friend back around! Could never make it into the playoffs without getting hurt. No issue for Detroit.

I still think the paramedics would tire of carrying his hulking frame off the ice every other game that he plays. Too much injury
for nearly $5M x 2.
I should never say never...If the Krack takes him and flips him for 1/2 salary, they might tempt Toronto, or even back to Tampa.....

Russo reporting that Kaprizov turned down an 8 year, $9 million per contract from the Wild.

He believes he can get more later if he signs a shorter deal now.
- BINGO!

I’d love to get him. At one point there were more calls about Reinhart than Eichel (supposedly). The market would be steep. I way underestimated the tag before, to my own chagrin (and plenty of hate mail). They need centers, but I have to think they’d bring up a name like Zadina, maybe also Veleno. I don’t know, I haven’t heard those specifically. Maybe they would want Vrana’s rights or sign and trade?

Again, all just speculation. But it seems like the price is high because of the interest

I would pass on Eichel and Reinhart unless the price comes way down. Monahan would be interesting but again depends on the price. Landeskog would be interesting but i doubt he will hit the market...i think it's all just smoke and mirrors and he will sign with the Avs once the expansion draft is done with.

I can see Yzerman looking for 1 or 2 year deals for players that can't get close to the money they want so he can flip them at the deadline this year or next. One player Yzerman should throw a lot of money at for 1 or 2 years is Taylor Hall (2 years might be best)...so the Wings can win the next 2 first overall picks and get Shane Wright and Matvei Michkov.

Draft Brandt Clarke in this draft then get Wright and then Michkov. After that you trade Hronek+ for Werenski (or sign him as a UFA when the time comes). Trade for a young goalie (if the Wings still haven't hit on one in the draft) Knight, Demko, Sogaard or something. Then the Wings are ready to get into the playoffs and contend for a cup.

Vrana - Wright - Michkov
Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond
Berggren - Veleno - Zadina
Smith - Soderblom - Rasmussen

Werenski - Seider
Johansson/McIsaac/Viro/Sebrango/UFA or whoever develops the best - Clarke
whoever from that list - Lindstrom/Kotkansalo/Wallinder

Knight/Demko/Sogaard or whoever they trade for or develop
vet UFA

Fun to dream

This would unquestionably be the worst roster in the league; a nightmare for fans, not a dream.

Devils got a good, physical LD in Ryan Graves....for forward Mikhail Maltsev and a second-round pick.

Yeah because that roster is so much worst than what the Wings have been the last 5 years I can guaranty you that there would be a lot of worst rosters than that one.
